What does the session cover?

Managing your healthcare and hearing loss is designed and presented by our peer support volunteers, who all have lived experience of hearing loss.

The session aims to give you a series of practical tips, and above all, the confidence to address any issues you may have in managing your healthcare.

In this webinar, we talk about multiple healthcare settings, and the session is split into the following sections:

  • Your healthcare, your way: Find out how health providers are obligated to communicate with patients and learn tips for improving appointments.
  • GP surgeries and pharmacies: Key steps to ensuring people with hearing loss are suitably prepared to meet clinicians and tips to make pharmacy visits as smooth as possible.
  • Going to hospital: Best practice for planning appointments - from receiving an appointment date through to tests and follow-up.
  • Staying in hospital: Discover how to prepare for hospital stays and how to improve communication.
  • Dentist and optician: Understand the challenges of these environments and how to minimise them.
  • Accident and Emergency: Simple strategies to help you plan for emergencies.
