Dog ice lollies
Here is a quick and easy recipe for dog ice lollies. Whether it’s to cool down on a warm day or simply to enjoy a sweet treat, your four-legged friend will love these delicious dog ice lollies. They’re healthy too!
Children will also enjoy making these dog ice lollies, so why not make this a fun activity for school holidays or weekends?

Ingredients
- A pot of live plain yoghurt (no sugar, no sweetener)
- 1 banana
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 1 large carrot
Method
- In a bowl, mix or blend the plain yoghurt, sliced banana and honey, making sure that the banana is well ‘mushed’.
- Spoon mixture into suitable ice-lolly sized pots. Small glasses, shot glasses, or egg cups would be suitable.
- Slice the carrots into batons (or use the carrot whole!). These will act as your edible lolly sticks so should have enough length to hold when you place them into your yoghurt mixture.
- Carefully place one carrot stick, vertically, into the centre of each pot.
- Place pots in freezer. The length of time your dog ice lollies take to freeze will depend on their size, but you’ll want to leave them in the freezer for a good few hours for best results.
-
Once frozen, to remove your dog ice lollies from their moulds, run the mould under a little warm water and slide the lolly out.
Tips
- In addition to, or in place of, the banana, you could try other ingredients such as berries, apples (be sure to remove the pips), cucumber or mango.
- If you’re adding other ingredients, be sure that they are safe for dogs. Please refer to our list of safe foods for dogs and our list of foods poisonous to dogs.
- Remember, these dog ice lollies are treats and should be given sparingly as part of your dog’s usual food and treat allowance.
- If your dog has allergies or special dietary requirements, please check with their vet before introducing new treats.
