Sponsor Hebe: A loving and inquisitive companion

It’s time for a spoonful of Hebe sweetness! Sniffing and exploring with her chocolate button nose, this Cocker Spaniel is top of her cuteness game. Life through Hebe’s eyes is filled with fun and all of her favourite things. One day, her instinctively loving nature will transform a deaf person’s life.

Hebe loves playing fetch and showing off her prizes (balls and toys!) with pride. Outside of her go-to games, this enthusiastic pup loves trying new things. Recently, she tried a piece of kibble frozen in an ice cube – now, it’s top of her treat list!

Living with her Volunteer Dog Trainers, Abbie and Martin, Hebe has formed a friendship with Abbie’s four-year-old granddaughter. “It’s like Hebe senses that my granddaughter is young and so relates to her differently. It’s amazing to watch,” said Abbie. Well done, Hebe – it sounds like this friendship between a little pup and a little person is blossoming!

When she’s not being a busy bee, Hebe loves relaxing in the middle of the lavender bush in the garden. We’re sure it’s not as sweet as she is, but it is the perfect spot for a pup to daydream about becoming a hearing dog.

When my wife passed away in 2007, I became isolated and depressed. I was also very worried about not hearing the smoke or fire alarm. I often set the portable timer to remind me about appointments and cooking. Arya tells me about them by nudging me with her nose. She once woke me up when the fire alarm went off! Arya has opened up a whole new world to me.

How your puppy sponsorship will help

You'll help a puppy become a life-changing hearing dog. They'll stop a deaf person feeling isolated and alone, and alert them to sounds they can't hear including the doorbell and the fire alarm.

Training progress: Hebe is loving life as a trainee

As a puppy-in-training, every day is filled with opportunities to learn something new. Hebe has been investigating household items, including the vacuum cleaner. For a young pup, this large and noisy item could take some getting used to, but Hebe was unphased and just walked on by! At puppy class, she loves learning new skills alongside all her friends. Curious Hebe is taking each new experience in her stride, which is a great sign for her future training.

Will more plants join Hebe’s herb garden? Which other sweet shop favourites will she grow to resemble? And which deaf person will she grow up to support? Sponsor Hebe today to find out!
