Wish is going to be a mum!

That’s right! Our gorgeous girl is going to be bringing the next generation of hearing dog puppies into the world.

Wish has everything we look for in a hearing dog. You’ve supported her to grow from a tiny pup into the clever and confident dog she is today. So now, she’s going to be helping not just one, but many deaf people, by passing all of her amazing qualities on to her puppies.

With the characteristics of their super mum, Wish’s puppies will become life-changing companions for their future deaf partners, bringing them connection, companionship and confidence wherever life takes them.

Preparing for puppy parenthood

Rachael and her husband Dan are still Wish’s volunteers, and our beautiful girl will continue to have lots of fun at home with her Labrador friends, Fudge and Forest, as she prepares to become a new mum.

Whilst they continue to provide Wish with a safe and loving home, Rachael and Dan will now be supported by the Hearing Dogs Breeding Team. They’ll give them all the knowledge and skills they'll need to best support Wish and her future pups.

When the little Wishlets arrive, Rachael and Dan will look after them all throughout the first eight weeks of the puppies’ lives. Then, they’ll be ready to set off on their own amazing training journeys.

Wish’s pups will change many lives

With Wish’s instinctively fun, affectionate and gentle nature, her team are confident that she will make a brilliant mum.

Dog Training Instructor, Izi, shared, “Recently, we had a couple of younger puppies join our puppy training class. One of the puppies was a little bit wary of the bigger dogs, so I introduced them to Wish to make friends. She was so nice and calm around them, which bodes well for when she has her own pups!”

“Wish is a fantastic Labrador! She is infectiously happy and very gentle,” added Puppy Supply Supervisor, Jon. “I think she will make a great mum and her housemates will enjoy being aunties!”
