I am ear for you

You miss a knock on the door. You don’t hear your baby crying in the next room. You can’t follow conversations, so you withdraw from social situations and feel isolated. Your safety is at risk because you can’t hear the smoke alarm going off.

But our expert hearing dogs and practical and emotional support services are ‘ear’ for them.

“After years of barely leaving the house, I’m now out walking with my hearing dog Penny every day. With her by my side, I feel more confident because people see her hearing dog jacket and know that I’m deaf. She’s my missing piece, my best friend.” - (Corrine who has hearing dog Penny)

Small changes in how we communicate can make a huge difference for deaf people.

Our free guide is full of simple, practical tips to help you communicate with confidence and create more deaf-friendly experiences.

For example:

  • If possible move to a quieter place with less background noise.
  • Check how someone prefers to be communicated with, don’t assume you know.
  • Speak normally – shouting or speaking slowly will make lipreading harder.
