Sponsor Sprout: A chilled-out and cheeky companion

Say hello to Sprout! With his sage-green eyes and floppy chocolate ears, Sprout greets every day with an adorable, cheeky confidence. Unlike his veggie namesake, this sweet pup is loved by everyone he meets. And this all-round good boy is on the path to changing a deaf person’s life.

Sprout is an inquisitive puppy who loves spending time with people. He’s already formed a great relationship with his Volunteer Dog Trainer, Linda. In fact, he even goes as far as settling down on top of her feet. However, his favourite time of day is when he’s given a tasty carrot treat!

“Sprout is a very loving little dog,” shared Linda. “Whilst he loves getting his teeth into chewing toys like his olive branch, he also knows how to be gentle and even offers kisses on my hand!” Well done our super Sprout! His natural confidence and gentleness are already shining through.

As he takes his first steps towards becoming a hearing dog, Sprout is showing he has wisdom beyond his years (he’s even got the beginnings of a little white beard!) One day, this clever Cockapoo will become a life-changing companion for his deaf partner.

When my wife passed away in 2007, I became isolated and depressed. I was also very worried about not hearing the smoke or fire alarm. I often set the portable timer to remind me about appointments and cooking. Arya tells me about them by nudging me with her nose. She once woke me up when the fire alarm went off! Arya has opened up a whole new world to me.

How your puppy sponsorship will help

You'll help a puppy become a life-changing hearing dog. They'll stop a deaf person feeling isolated and alone, and alert them to sounds they can't hear including the doorbell and the fire alarm.

Training progress: Sprout, the puppy class superstar

Little Sprout has been doing his trainers proud during his first puppy classes. In class, we gradually introduce puppies to distractions such as toys, unusual objects and of course, other dogs. Despite being the youngest, Sprout has been keeping up with the older dogs, showing off his focused and intelligent nature. These foundational skills will be the basis of his more advanced training, so this future hearing dog is off to a fantastic start!

Will carrots remain as Sprout’s favourite treat? How will his little white beard grow over time? And which deaf person will he grow up to support? Sponsor Sprout today to find out!
