Sponsor Potter: A thoughtful and playful pal

Meet the magical Potter! A friend to all, time spent with this super-soft Spaniel is always a pleasure… even when he’s up to adorable mischief-making! The pawfect mixture of focus and fun, Potter is flying into his training with an excitement to learn.

When he’s not exploring the world with his favourite people, the spirited Potter loves to invent new games. He’s even mastered the trick of making shoes disappear around the house! However, with those puppy dog eyes, this charming pup puts everyone he meets under his spell.

“Potter is an amazing little character who is so interested in life,” said Rob, one of Potter’s Volunteer Dog Trainers. “He gets a lot of attention because of his lovely little face. Even if 100 people came to meet him, he would greet them all enthusiastically.” Wow Potter, with all these friends, you’ll need to think up some more games!

One puppy class at a time, Potter is beginning his journey to become a clever and comforting companion for a deaf person. He may only be a first-year student, but this spell-binding boy has all the makings of a future life-changer.

When my wife passed away in 2007, I became isolated and depressed. I was also very worried about not hearing the smoke or fire alarm. I often set the portable timer to remind me about appointments and cooking. Arya tells me about them by nudging me with her nose. She once woke me up when the fire alarm went off! Arya has opened up a whole new world to me.

Training progress: Potter practises patience

The world is an exciting place for a young puppy, filled with so many sights, sounds and distractions. To help him grow into a calm and confident dog, Potter and his trainers have been playing patience-focussed games, such as rewarding Potter with more treats the longer he can sit still for. As a hearing dog’s training is based on rewards, like treats, toys and cuddles, our puppies love learning these important foundational skills!

Can Potter learn to conjure shoes as well as make them disappear? How many pals will this magical pup make? And which deaf person will he grow up to support? Sponsor Potter today to find out!
