Sponsor Joey: A loving and confident friend

Joyful Joey wants to say hello! This little Lab has a heart as golden as his floppy ears and is the perfect canine company. Wherever he goes, Joey is loving life and finding fun in everything he encounters. And putting his best coffee-coloured toe beans forward, he’s on his way to transforming a deaf person’s life.

At home, this independent puppy is equally happy spending time in his own company as with his favourite humans. A typical day for Joey revolves around his soft toys, snoozing… and stealing socks! But despite these moments of sweet mischief, Joey has already formed a fantastic friendship with his Volunteer Puppy Trainer, Susie.

“Joey is an absolutely gorgeous puppy! He is so affectionate and inquisitive,” shared Susie. “Recently, we visited our local pet shop together to get some new toys. He was so excited as everything in the shop smelt so interesting!” If you think the pet shop is interesting, Joey, just you wait until you see your first supermarket!

Time spent with Joey is simply a treat and his zest for life brightens up any rainy day. Whatever the weather, Joey’s instinctive sense of fun and love will bring confidence and connection to his future deaf partner.

Will Joey’s ears become more golden as he grows? How many stolen socks will join his collection? And which deaf person will he grow up to support? Sponsor Joey today to find out!

When my wife passed away in 2007, I became isolated and depressed. I was also very worried about not hearing the smoke or fire alarm. I often set the portable timer to remind me about appointments and cooking. Arya tells me about them by nudging me with her nose. She once woke me up when the fire alarm went off! Arya has opened up a whole new world to me.

How your puppy sponsorship will help

You'll help a puppy become a life-changing hearing dog. They'll stop a deaf person feeling isolated and alone, and alert them to sounds they can't hear including the doorbell and the fire alarm.

Joey brings joy to the neighbourhood

As somebody’s hearing dog, Joey will encounter lots of people as he accompanies his deaf partner throughout day-to-day life. So, it’s important that he meets lots of different people in his early training to help him feel calm and confident in the future. In his local area, Joey has already met the postman, the refuse collectors and gas engineers. This cheerful pup eagerly approached them all and was rewarded for his confidence with cuddles and tummy rubs!
