Sponsor Colette: A playful and cuddly companion

Colette is cuteness defined. This snuggly puppy is more dog crossed with teddy bear than Poodle crossed with Cocker Spaniel! Turning heads in her honey-coloured coat, she’s an instant friend to everyone she meets. And once she’s grown up, her amazing friendship will transform a deaf person’s life.

When she’s not sniffing out treats in her snuffle mat, Colette loves to invent new games at home. Whether it’s playing ‘chase’ or ‘steal the slippers’, this lively and loveable pup is always up for fun with her favourite people. As long as it’s followed by cuddles, of course!

On top of slipper-based mischief, her Volunteer Dog Trainer, Sue, has noticed Colette also loves to explore the garden: “When it’s windy, she loves to chase the leaves! She’s very happy out there but once she comes inside, she’s loves nothing more than a cuddle by the fire.” You’ve certainly perfected your post-play snuggle routine, Colette!

After a day of play and adoration, this cuddlesome Cockapoo falls sound asleep in her favourite blanket. After all, she’ll need all her beauty sleep to learn how to be a life-changing hearing dog.

When my wife passed away in 2007, I became isolated and depressed. I was also very worried about not hearing the smoke or fire alarm. I often set the portable timer to remind me about appointments and cooking. Arya tells me about them by nudging me with her nose. She once woke me up when the fire alarm went off! Arya has opened up a whole new world to me.

Training progress: Colette’s growing in confidence

As a future hearing dog, it’s important that Colette experiences as many sights and sounds as possible from a young age. With her Volunteer Dog Trainer, Colette has been exploring the local neighbourhood and watching passing traffic. In true Colette style, if she feels unsure, she returns to her Trainer for a reassuring cuddle. It’s this patient, step-by-step approach to training that will help her grow up into a confident and resilient hearing dog.

Which new games will Colette create? Who else will fall for her impeccable cuteness? And which deaf person will she grow up to support? Sponsor Colette today to find out!
