Sponsor Bobby: A confident and joy-filled friend

Bobby’s here to brighten your day! This fluffy pup loves learning about the world around him alongside his favourite humans. With his pink-spotted nose, he’s got a knack for sniffing out excitement wherever he goes. One day, he’ll bring so much joy to a deaf person’s life.

When it comes to a Cocker Spaniel’s classic confidence, Bobby certainly fits the bill. New sights and sounds don’t faze this little pup. He also has no problem standing his ground, particularly if a cat dares to enter his garden! However, Bobby is really a floppy-eared friend at heart whose tail is constantly wagging.

At home, Bobby has no problem entertaining himself if his Volunteer Dog Trainers, Sue and Chris, have other tasks to tend to. “Bobby has his own toy box with a folding lid,” shared Sue. “He’s worked out that if he wants another toy, he can just open it and go in. But because he’s still little, his whole body ends up in the box!” No need to pick one toy, Bobby, when you can have them all!

With Bobby by your side, delight is around every corner. For this gorgeous, golden boy, the makings of a future hearing dog are already shining through.

When my wife passed away in 2007, I became isolated and depressed. I was also very worried about not hearing the smoke or fire alarm. I often set the portable timer to remind me about appointments and cooking. Arya tells me about them by nudging me with her nose. She once woke me up when the fire alarm went off! Arya has opened up a whole new world to me.

How your puppy sponsorship will help

You'll help a puppy become a life-changing hearing dog. They'll stop a deaf person feeling isolated and alone, and alert them to sounds they can't hear including the doorbell and the fire alarm.

Training progress: Bobby is a bright spark!

Bobby has begun to go to puppy classes with his Volunteer Dog Trainers and other hearing dog trainees. He’s very keen to learn and simply can’t wait to get involved! Outside of puppy class, he’s showing a natural talent for ‘recall’, which means coming back to his trainer when called. This is a fantastic core skill for Bobby to have from such a young age. It’s a great sign for his future training!

Will Bobby’s tail calm down as he grows? Will he ever befriend the neighbourhood cat? And which deaf person will he grow up to support? Sponsor Bobby today to find out!
