This month in training: December 2025
Marco has helped with the weekly food shop, Brook’s been busy investigating Christmas decorations at the garden centre, Lucky showed off his super settle, and much more.
Marco has helped with the weekly food shop, Brook’s been busy investigating Christmas decorations at the garden centre, Lucky showed off his super settle, and much more.
Brook has been building her confidence in the public spaces she'll visit with her future deaf partner.
Garden centres are the ideal venues for our pups to start their training in public places as they are relaxed environments with lots of interesting new sights and smells.
Brook will visit busier places as she progresses through her training, but this was such a brilliant start.
Settling is an important skill for any hearing dog, as it is what they will do when in public places with their deaf partner.
We want our pups to be relaxed in the many different environments they visit, and Lucky showed off his lovely settle when his volunteer trainer stopped for coffee catch-up.
Marco is in the third stage of his hearing dog training and has been visiting the supermarket with his volunteer trainer.
Not fazed by the busy shops, Marco did a brilliant job focusing on his volunteer, showing off his 'Sit' and took all the baskets, trolleys, and tasty distractions in his stride.
From building confidence around unusual objects, to learning that the tasty treats should stay on the shelves, our dogs are slowly introduced to busy environments, such as supermarkets, so they can confidently accompany their partners in the future.
Jerry has been doing a great job in the third stage of his hearing dog training.
He was the perfect passenger on his recent train trip with his volunteer trainer. Showing off his 'Down' and fantastic focus as the train went on.
Next up for Jerry will be soundwork, where he'll learn how to alert his future deaf partner to important, and potentially life-saving, sounds like the smoke alarm, doorbell, and alarm clock.
Bilbo has been visiting public places in the final stage of his hearing dog training and after exploring the local library, it was off to the coffee shop for a settle and a little treat.
He did a brilliant job keeping his focus on his volunteer trainer and was such a happy customer.
Our clever Cocker Spaniel has passed her final hearing dog training assessment and is getting ready to meet her future deaf partner.
Lima has been an absolute joy to train, from a sweet little pup to the confident girl she's grown into, we're all so very proud of her.
Congratulations Team Lima!
Hi everyone, I'm Matt and I look after the charity's social media, blog and e-newsletter.
I spend a lot of my day talking about our hearing dog superstars - it's a hard life!
