Sound support dog

A sound support dog works in the home only. The dog responds to sounds as well as giving companionship and emotional support.

What is a sound support dog?

A sound support dog is highly trained to alert adults with hearing loss to sounds in the home. When out and about, they do not wear a burgundy jacket or accompany their partner to places where a pet dog is not allowed.

We match sound support dogs to people with deteriorating hearing and people with moderate hearing loss. These dogs are well suited to anyone who needs to be reliably alerted to sounds within the home, but do not need a dog to accompany them everywhere they go.

How can a sound support dog help?

"From the first day of Aspen arriving, I felt more secure and safe just knowing he is there to help me. He gave me back my confidence, and he gives me a reason to smile every day."
