Summer has been busy!

Hello and welcome back to Summer’s Puppy Pen!

It’s time to find out what your adorable sponsor pup has been up to.

In exciting news, Summer has recently been introduced to public transport.

The sounds and vibrations of trains and buses can be an unusual experience for a pup in training, but with lots of praise and encouragement, Summer is learning that it is nothing to be afraid of. Through this style of gentle reward-based training, Summer has discovered that travelling on public transport is actually a very fun adventure!

Summer’s future deaf partner may rely on public transport to get around, so we want to make sure Summer feels happy and confident to accompany them on their journeys.

In other news, Summer recently attended a fun afternoon at our southern training centre, where lots of exciting games were set up for our pups in training.

Here is Summer having a go at the ‘cup game’…

The aim of the game is for Summer to use her brilliant sense of smell to sniff out the tasty treats which are hidden under the cones. Puzzle solving games like this are lots of fun and a great source of mental enrichment for Summer.

Summer also recently got to hang out with fellow pup in training, Gizmo.

Spending time with a fluffy friend is a great way to develop Summer’s social skills and it teaches her to play nicely with other dogs. Regular interactions like this are also an important part of Summer’s training to feel confident around other pets that she may encounter with her future deaf partner.

So, as you can see, Summer has been a busy pup! She has been having so much fun in her training and we are so proud of her progress. It’s time for this pup to head to puppy dreamland and get some sleep, before the adventures start all over again!
