Storm's new favourite toy

Welcome back to Storm’s Puppy Pen! Storm has some very important news – he has a new favourite toy – and he is so excited to show you. Introducing, Dumpy the donkey!

Squishy and cuddly toys often have a comforting and familiar smell, reminding Storm of his favourite people, and making him feel happy and relaxed.

He even practises his basic cues with him, like ‘sit’…

On the topic of basic cues, Storm has also been working very hard on his perfecting his ‘wait’.

In the next video, you will see that Storm watches his food bowl be placed down, and then patiently waits until he is given the cue to eat, before enjoying his delicious breakfast.

What amazing patience and self-control… especially from a hungry Labrador!

By resisting the urge to gobble his food down immediately, Storm is demonstrating that he has excellent impulse control. In other words, he is learning that if he makes good decisions and remains patient, he will be rewarded in the end.

We are so proud of Storm. The skills he is learning now will help him grow up into the most wonderful hearing dog for his future deaf partner.
