Episode 7:

A day in London with Oscar

Posted by Elizabeth Murphy

Welcome back to Oscar’s Puppy Pen! With support from his amazing training team, Oscar has been working on building his confidence in busy public places. This is an important part of Oscar’s training, as we want him to be calm and well-behaved when he accompanies his future deaf partner in these environments. To practise these skills, Oscar recently went on an exciting trip into London. Let’s see what he got up to!

The London adventure began with Oscar waiting patiently at the train station with Elaine, his Volunteer Dog Trainer.

Oscar settled beautifully on the platform, and was completely unfazed by any passing trains.

On the train now, and once again, Oscar demonstrates that he is the perfect passenger. Our clever Cocker Spaniel does a super job of not getting distracted by the unusual sights, sounds and movements of a moving train.

When Oscar is a qualified hearing dog, his burgundy jacket will help to make other people aware of his partner’s deafness. In a public transport environment, this should encourage other passengers and staff to help communicate any announcements or important information that may get missed.

Next stop, London!

Oscar has arrived in the big city, and he’s popped into a couple of shops. Here he is doing a lovely settle in a supermarket.
