Episode 6:

Elmo is the perfect passenger!

Welcome back to Elmo’s Puppy Pen!

Your adventurous sponsor pup has recently discovered the exciting world of public transport.

It is important that Elmo is introduced to new experiences gradually through gentle reward-based training. So before travelling on any trains, Elmo’s volunteer, Aileen, took him to a train platform a few times to get him used to seeing a large, noisy train.

With plenty of positive encouragement from Aileen, clever Elmo was unfazed by the unusual and potentially daunting train and calmly watched it pass by.

After lots of practice waiting on the platform, Elmo’s training team thought he was ready to set off on his own train adventure!

Feeling confident on public transport is an important part of Elmo’s hearing dog training. His future deaf partner may rely on public transport for work, appointments or social events, so we want to make sure Elmo can happily accompany them.
