This month in training: October 2026

From brushing up the basics to jumping on new skills, our dogs have been training hard over the last month. We've got puppy classes with Oakley & pals, shopping trips with Amber & Kasper, and Jinx shows us just how exciting soundwork training can be.

1. Amber’s big day out

In the third stage of her hearing dog training, Amber practiced her 'Sit' & 'Wait' in a new environment.

She did brilliantly keeping her focus on her Volunteer Dog Trainer in the shops before having a quick snooze in the café.

2. Fantastic news for Franklin

Our clever cockapoo has passed his final training assessment!

He's done a fantastic job in the final stage of his hearing dog training and been a busy boy visiting public places, travelling on public transport, and learning how to alert to different sounds.

Now, he's ready to be meet his deaf partner and we just know he's going to make the world of difference.

3. Kasper takes on the shops

In the third stage of his hearing dog training, he's been visiting the types of places he'll likely go to with his future deaf partner.

Despite the exciting sights, sounds and smells in the shops, this pup has been doing an excellent job at keeping focus. Keep up the great work Kasper!

4. Meet gorgeous Gordon

This gorgeous pup is in the early stages of his hearing dog training where he's busy exploring the world around him.

With lots of praise and cuddles, gorgeous Gordon will be heading to his first puppy class as he starts learning his basic cues like 'Sit' and 'Wait'.

Good luck Gordon!

5. Jinx is jumping with joy

Jinx is learning how to alert to the cooker timer and is jumping for joy when it goes off!

Distractions are common, and the camera is a little tricky to resist, but with practice, our joyful boy will be confident alerting his future deaf partner around hoovers, guests, and yes, even another camera.

It's all fun and games for Jinx though and a big fuss and playtime with his favourite trainer, Rachel, is the best reward for a job well done.

6. Back to basics

Even grown up pups keep up with their basic cues.

Oakley, Aston and Peanut have been practising their 'Sit' and 'Down' on different surfaces in puppy class.

Repetition is key, and it's important they can do these skills confidently, whether on soft mats or hard floors.
