6 videos for a marvellous March

Watch how clever Daisy alerts to a crying baby, join Nelson on his visit to a garden centre, and find out just how quickly Cocker Spaniel puppy Ada is picking up new skills in her early hearing dog training.

1. Hearing dog in training Daisy alerts to baby's cry

As well as training hearing dogs to alert to sounds like a timer, doorbell and smoke alarm, we can also train them to alert to sounds such as a baby monitor should their deaf partner have a young family.

A baby’s cry is designed to grab attention, and it can be frightening if you can’t hear when your child is upset. Having a hearing dog who can alert you when your child is crying can make a huge difference to safety, confidence and reassurance at home.

Meet the very clever Daisy! Here she is alerting to a baby monitor and then also demonstrating ‘the call’. This is where Daisy can be asked to ‘call mum’ should her partner’s children need her.

2. We have the ultimate treat, and it involves puppies!

Amber and Olive are enjoying the early stages of their training, Pasha, Tristan and Genie are snuffling for treats, and Marney isn't sure if his treat is a tasty chew or a fun toy.

3. Join Nelson on his trip to the garden centre

In the third stage of his hearing dog training, Nelson has been doing a great job gaining experience in the public places he might visit with his future deaf partner.

The garden centre is the perfect spot for Nelson to work on his 'Sit' and 'Wait' and he even paused for lots of close ups whilst his volunteer took a break in the coffee shop.

Well done, Nelson

5. Adorable Ada

Cocker Spaniel Ada has recently started her early hearing dog training and here she is practising her super 'down'.

During the first stage of training, our dogs learn important basic cues such as 'sit, 'wait' and 'down', as well as responding to their name.

These cues may seem simple, but for a puppy who wants to explore and chew everything, it can be quite tricky - however, Ada did a fab job!
