Apply to foster a hearing dog mum
Thank you for your interest in fostering a hearing dog mum. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping our dogs become life-changing hearing dogs.
We call hearing dog mums a ‘brood’. This means they’re a female dog used for breeding.
As a brood fosterer, you will need to:
- live no more than a 45-minute drive from our National Breeding Centre in Saunderton, Buckinghamshire (HP27 9NS)
- be prepared to have up to 4 litters, with no more than 1 litter per year
- allow a brood to give birth in your home, and care for her litter until they're 8 weeks old
- attend matings as required, this may include weekends or bank holidays
- provide plenty of time and a safe home.
This application form is designed to check that this role is a good fit and that you have the time and space in your home needed to carry out this role. It should take you no more than 10 minutes to complete, and we’ll let you know if your application is successful within 5 working days.
If your application is successful you will be required to:
- provide two references
- provide emergency contact details
- complete an online induction
- complete in-person home and handling checks as part of your induction
- pass a pet dog check for any dogs living in the home
Once approved, we can then confirm your voluntary position. We hope to welcome you to our team soon!
