This month in training: March 2025

Ginny is very proud for passing her Puppy 1 Star, Timmy is back in the big city, Lexie has started puppy classes, and so much more. Find out what our clever pups have been learning in their hearing dog training.
1. Kasper and his new pal
Cats and dogs really can be friends!
Frank the cat is playing an important role in training hearing dog puppy Kasper to be comfortable around other animals as many of our volunteers and deaf partners have pets of their own.
It's a great skill to have, as his future deaf partner may already have their own pet.
2. Ginny is one very proud little pup
And rightly so, as she's just passed the first stage of her hearing dog training - the Puppy 1 Star.
Ginny has been exploring lots of new objects & smells, learning to play nicely, and has even mastered her 'Sit'.
3. All aboard with Kirby!
As hearing dogs may use public transport when with their deaf partner, it's important they are comfortable with the experience.
Kirby was a star and wasn't fazed by those unusual movements or the strange sights, sounds, and smells.
4. Puppy class playtime with Lexie
Lexie is one curious little pup who's been having lots of fun exploring the ball pit.
Exploring is the basis of the first stage of training where we can introduce new smells, sights, and sounds gradually to young puppies, like Lexie, to try in their own time.
5. One clever Cookie!
Cookie is looking very proud with her lovely certificate and rosette for passing the third stage of her hearing dog training - the Puppy 3 Star.
Next up for Cookie will be starting her soundwork where she’ll learn how to alert her future deaf partner to important, and potentially life-saving, sounds.
6. Timmy takes on the big city
He's in the final stages of his hearing dog training and has been spending some time in busier cities as part of some bespoke training for his potential match.
Timmy has always been happy exploring towns and villages and travelling on public transport, so his trainer was confident he would make the perfect match for someone who worked in a city.
