This month in training: March 2024

Posted by Matt Sadler

From Drake passing his Puppy 1 Star to Kali passing her final assessment, we've seen it all this month - even a couple of little pups trying on their hearing dog jacket for size.

1. Drake passed the first stage of his training

He’s thrilled, really he is!

Drake passed the first stage of his puppy training, the Puppy 1 Star, and wasn’t too impressed with his certificate. On the other hand, we are beyond impressed with how quickly he is zooming through his training.

2. Nova and Kristo try it on for size

At a recent puppy class Nova and Kristo go to try out their burgundy hearing jackets.

There’s still plenty of room to grow for these two little pups and as they make their way through their puppy training journey, they’ll soon be wearing their jackets out and about in public spaces.

3. All aboard with Flossy!

The next stop in Flossy’s training was to try out a bit of public transport and hop aboard the bus.

Flossy took it in her stride and was a model passenger, focusing on her trainer and settling in well.

4. Oakley is the perfect customer

Oakley visited a cafe with his volunteer and did a beautiful job settling in, it’s a key skill for any hearing dog when they go to public places with their partner, and our clever cockapoo was very relaxed in a new environment.

5. Come shopping with Cole

Over clever cocker spaniel, Cole, took a trip to the charity shops on part of the third stage of his training, the Puppy 3 Star.

Charity shops are a great place to start for our pups as they’re often a little less busy than your average high-street store. Cole wasn’t phased in the slightest and enjoyed a browse through the bric-a-brac, low bookshelves, and even eyed up a cuddly toy or two whilst maintaining fantastic focus on his trainer.

6. Kali passed her assessment

Kali has been an absolute star and has now passed her assessment to be a life-changing hearing dog.

We’ve put together a video where you can watch Kali grow up and see her perform two different sound alerts. One to wake her trainer up to an alarm clock and the other to signify a ‘danger’ sound.

Sponsor a puppy and change a deaf person's life

These cute puppies are training to become life-changers. Sponsor them from £5 a month and follow their journey as they learn how to help a deaf person.
