This month in training: June 2022
Posted by Matt Sadler
Benji and Fearne have been practising in cities, Brock has had his first training class, and Pluto is a settling superstar. Go behind the scenes to find out what our clever hearing dog pups have been learning.
1. Benji has been into London...
Cockapoo Benji has been on a trip into London as he continues to practise on public transport and in a busier environment.
Benji did a great job on his train journey into the city and wasn't fazed at all when travelling on the Tube. Well done Benji!
2. While fabulous Fearne took in the sights of Cambridge
Settling on a bus journey, shopping, and a spot of sightseeing, hearing dog in training Fearne did brilliantly on her trip into Cambridge.
Fearne is in the penultimate stage of her training and is focusing more on practising in public places and on public transport.
We slowly introduce our dogs to busier locations, from villages to towns and then to cities, making sure they are happy every step of the way.
3. Say hello to little Freddie
Freddie is an incredibly cute cockapoo puppy, and he was very keen to meet you.
Freddie will start his hearing dog training in a few weeks, and he will be concentrating on exploring lots of new objects and having as much fun as possible.
4. Eric has started the final stage of his hearing dog training
Eric has reached a major milestone as he has passed his 'Puppy Three Star' and is into the final stage of training!
Our clever cocker spaniel is full of personality and he will now focus more on learning the sounds he will alert his future deaf partner to.
Congratulations to Eric and his team.
5. Big smiles from Gerry!
Gerry was all smiles as he waited for his bus journey.
If a deaf person uses public transport then we want their new hearing dog to be comfortable with the experience, and Gerry was the perfect passenger.
6. Brock has started his early hearing dog training
Cocker spaniel Brock has had his first ever puppy training class and he showed off his lovely sit.
Brock is doing a fab job learning his basic cues and he is also being encouraged to investigate lots of new objects.
7. Pluto is a settling superstar
Pluto has been busy visiting lots of public places and here he is with a lovely settle in a restaurant.
A key part of training is making sure our dogs are comfortable and relaxed in the environments they may visit with their deaf partner, and Pluto was certainly that.
8. Mitchell has passed his assessment to be a hearing dog!
Mitchell is celebrating passing his final assessment to be a life-changing hearing dog!
Our incredibly clever cockapoo has been a star throughout training and he has had a wonderful team behind him every step of the way.
We are so proud of you Mitchell.
