This month in training: July 2025

Posted by Matt Sadler

Woody has been to his first puppy training class, Myrtle is a very happy bus passenger, Toffee's a soundwork superstar, and more. Find out what else our clever dogs have been learning in their hearing dog training.

1. Wonderful Woody

Cocker spaniel Woody has been to his first ever puppy training class, and he showed off his very impressive sit and wait.

The early part of Woody's training will see him continue to practise his basic cues, and he is already proving to be such a quick learner.

Great job, Woody - we know you're going to have so much fun during your training.

2. A round of applause for Eddie

Eddie has reached an important milestone in his hearing dog training as he recently passed his Puppy 2 Star.

He's now the proud owner of his very own burgundy training jacket and has already taken it for a spin.

Excellent job Team Eddie.

3. Myrtle is one very happy hearing dog in training

Big smiles from marvellous Myrtle who has been learning all about public transport.

Our clever Labrador waited so happily for her bus to arrive and she was then a superstar on her journey into town.

Myrtle's future deaf partner might use public transport so it's important that she feels relaxed and comfortable on any trip.

Great job, Myrtle!

4. Jerry's been exploring

Clever Jerry did brilliantly on his first visit to a garden centre.

Garden centres are the perfect place for our younger dogs to visit as they are relaxed environments with lots of interesting new sights and smells.

Jerry will continue to visit public places as he progresses through hearing dog training, with the venues getting busier as he gains experience.

Well done, Jerry!

5. Jeeves has grown into such a clever boy!

Jeeves is going to be a life-changing hearing dog after passing his final training assessment!

Jeeves has been a complete joy to train and the next step for our clever Cockapoo is the very exciting moment of meeting his partner for the first time.

We are so proud of Jeeves and his amazing team, who have made all this possible.

6. Toffee's super sound alerts

Terrific Toffee recently passed his assessment to be a hearing dog and we thought you might like to watch some of his super sound alerts during training.

You'll see Toffee alerting to a doorbell and an alarm clock, as well as performing the danger signal to a smoke alarm and fire siren.

The danger alert is different as Toffee immediately lies down rather than lead his trainer towards what could be a potentially hazardous situation.

You’ll notice Toffee is in his burgundy jacket when alerting to the fire siren and this is because it’s a sound he will only hear when accompanying his deaf partner to public places.

Sponsor a puppy and change a deaf person's life

These cute puppies are training to become life-changers. Sponsor them from £5 a month and follow their journey as they learn how to help a deaf person.
