This month in training: February 2022

Posted by Matt Sadler

Ned has reached a big milestone in his training, Eric has been practising in public places, and little Rose is such a quick learner!

Our hearing dogs in training have been busy in their classes - find out what they have been up to.

1. Ned's a star!

Congratulations to Ned, who has raced through the first stage of his hearing dog training - the 'Puppy One Star'. Ned has shown that he knows his basic cues like 'sit' and 'wait', and that he is a very confident and happy pup. Well done Ned!

2. Nyla has been to a garden centre

Miniature poodle Nyla did so well on her trip to a garden centre.

Nyla kept her focus brilliantly despite all the interesting smells, and then settled beautifully in the café afterwards.

Nyla has recently started the final stage of her hearing dog training, which means she will now start to focus more on learning the sounds she will alert her future deaf partner to.

3. Winnie's the perfect passenger

Sponsor puppy Winnie was all smiles as she waited for her bus journey.

If a deaf person uses public transport then we want their new hearing dog to be comfortable with the experience and Winnie is always very relaxed.

4. Vanilla took a trip into town

Cockapoo Vanilla did a fab job on her training trip into a town centre. We slowly introduce our dogs to busier places, from villages to towns and then to cities, making sure the pup is comfortable every step of the way.

Well done Vanilla!

5. Eric has been a busy boy

Cocker spaniel Eric has been busy training in public places. Eric did a fab job on his visit to a shop & then showed his lovely settle at a café.

As hearing dogs accompany their partner to many places every day, it's vital they feel comfortable in different environments.

6. Georgia and Gerry are learning all about new objects

Siblings Georgia and Gerry have been learning to be relaxed around a mobility scooter in case their future deaf partners use one.

After investigating the new object, our clever sister and brother knew there was nothing to be wary of.

7. Rose is such a quick learner!

Oh Rose, you are so clever!

She may only be 11 weeks old, but cocker spaniel puppy Rose is doing brilliantly learning her basic cues and her wait is already so impressive.

Sponsor a puppy and change a deaf person's life

These cute puppies are training to become life-changers. Sponsor them from £3 a month and follow their journey as they learn how to help a deaf person.
