This month in training: August 2024

Our clever pups have had a busy month in training. Orin visited the shops, Summer is showing off her soundwork, and River has some brilliant news to share with you.
1. Congratulations Tucker
Our clever cocker spaniel has recently passed the first stage of his hearing dog training, the Puppy 1 Star.
Tucker has been having lots of fun learning his basic cues like 'sit' and how to play nicely.
2. Pitstop for Pip at the café
Pip is in the third stage of her hearing dog training and has started visiting new public spaces she might visit with her future deaf partner.
She's been practising her 'sit' and learning to settle in new environments.
3. Orin is always a very happy customer
Orin did a brilliant job on his recent shopping trip! It's so important our clever Cockapoo feels relaxed and comfortable in lots of different environments, as he will accompany his future deaf partner to many public places every day.
4. A very relaxed bus journey
Zebedee had his very first trip on public transport recently and those unusual movements didn't faze hime one bit as he decided it was the perfect opportunity for a quick snooze.
Zeb will build on this journey with more trips over the coming weeks, but this was such a fab start.
5. Summer is off to be a little life-changer
Summer has passed her final assessment to be a hearing dog and here she is showing off her super soundwork during training.
You'll see Summer performing the danger signal to a smoke alarm, as well as alerting to a timer and doorbell. The danger signal sees Summer immediately lie down rather than lead her volunteer trainer towards the sound, as it could be a hazardous situation.
6. River has taken a giant step towards changing a deaf person's life
Our adorable cocker spaniel has recently passed the third stage of her hearing dog training and has been busy practising in public places and on public transport.
River is now heading into the final stage of her training, which is where she will learn how to alert her future deaf partner to important and potentially even life-saving sounds.
