This month in training: April 2025
Posted by Matt Sadler
An adventure for Cockapoo Juno, a first shopping trip for Baloo, an early training milestone for little Izzy, and much more. Find out what else our clever dogs in training have been learning.
1. All aboard for perfect-passenger Juno
On her adventure, she practised her settle whilst waiting for the train and worked on her basic cues in the shops, all whilst keeping her focus on her volunteer trainer.
It's so important Juno feels comfortable with the unusual sounds & movements of train travel, and she did a great job.
2. Brilliant Baloo
Baloo was brilliant on his visit to the shops.
It's his first trip in his new training jacket as part of the third stage of his hearing dog training - the Puppy 3 Star.
Baloo did a super job keeping his focus on his volunteer and practising his 'Sit' and 'Wait' even with all the exciting distractions in store.
3. Izzy's very first star
Incredible Izzy has just passed the first stage of her hearing dog training - the Puppy 1 Star.
She's been having lots of fun exploring and learning her basic cues like 'Sit' and 'Wait' and next up for our clever pup will be working on her recall and starting to explore new places with her volunteer.
4. Marlon's gone to Specsavers
What better way to get some training for appointments than with a real life hearing test?
Marlon took it all in stride and made himself comfy beside his volunteer whilst they got their hearing tested.
5. Grayson has been on an adventure to London
Exploring the city and taking in all the sights, Grayson did a fantastic job and kept his focus on his volunteer trainer all the way through.
Grayson could be partnered with a deaf person who lives or works in a city, so it's important he's relaxed and comfortable on public transport and in busier environments
We slowly introduce our dogs to busier locations throughout their training and Grayson has taken each new experience in his stride!
Well done Grayson.
6. Jess has been learning to settle at a library
Jess did brilliantly on her visit to a library, settling beautifully and not getting distracted by everyone walking past her reading spot.
Feeling comfortable in these environments is important for any hearing dog, and Jess showed such lovely focus.
Well done, Jess.
7. Everyone meet Zeus, Zeus meet everyone
This little thunderbolt is an eight-week-old cocker spaniel, who's just about to start his hearing dog training.
The early stages will see him learn his basic cues like 'Sit' & 'Wait', and, of course, have as much fun as possible!
