This month in training: June 2018

It's been yet another busy month for our hearing dog pups in training!
Find out what some of our puppies have been learning in June .
1. Hearing dog puppy Fudge has joined the Hearing Dogs training scheme
Isn't Fudge just edible? She has just started her training to become a hearing dog - and will one day help a deaf person leave loneliness behind. First up, she will be learning how to bond with her new puppy socialising volunteer, basic 'sit' and 'down' commands - and how to perfect those puppy dog eyes!
2. Ash visited a hardware shop
Hearing dogs accompany a deaf person in lots of public places – including busy and interesting venues like garden centres, shops and markets. In places like these, our dogs need to understand all the things on display are not for them, and they should be on their best behaviour regardless of all the distractions.
Hearing dog pup Ash did an amazing job at having a good nosey in her surroundings at a local hardware shop, and kept on her best behaviour at all times.
3. Hearing dog pup Lottie did a great job on public transport this month.
It’s really important our hearing dog pups experience travelling on public transport before they become a hearing dog. If a deaf person gets a bus or a train to work, we want to make sure their new hearing dog is comfortable with this experience.
Lottie took this experience in her stride - and was very relaxed throughout her first train ride. We're super proud!
4. Rupert had his first puppy training class!
Even though he's just 10 weeks old, hearing dog puppy Rupert attended his first training class this month! He demonstrated the paw-fect 'sit' and got lots of tasty treats for being on such brilliant behaviour. He also got to meet lots of other young pups, too and played really nicely. Great job, Rupert!
