Emily Burness
Emily currently leads Continuous Improvement at Cochlear but with experience across several sectors. She is an MBA candidate at Warwick University and has been a volunteer fundraiser for Hearing Dogs since the age of 18.
If you have business processes that could do with improving, Emily is the person to turn to. A Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, Emily provides support and consultation across Europe, the Middle East and Africa in process improvement, project selection, and methodologies for Cochlear Limited. Cochlear is a medical device company that designs, manufactures, and supplies cochlear, electro-acoustic and bone conduction implants.
Emily grew up in Cheam, Surrey, where she attended Nonsuch High School for Girls before moving to St John’s School, Leatherhead, for the Sixth Form. She became an active fundraiser for Hearing Dogs before attending Nottingham Trent University to read Philosophy with International Relations.
With previous experience at Zipcar and Avis, Emily is currently studying part-time for an MBA at Warwick University where she is a member of the Student and Staff Liaison Committee. Emily is a co-founder of Social Giving, a charitable initiative started in 2020 by Warwick Business School graduate students with the goal of unlocking and activating the power of their professional network to undertake a series of social giving projects with both educational and business components. As a “Food Waste Hero”, Emily picks up unsold/surplus food from local food businesses and redistributes it on OLIO.
Emily lives with her husband in West Sussex where they enjoy exploring the great outdoors, especially with Heidi, a neighbour’s beautiful Golden Retriever, and visiting National Trust properties.
