Barry Downes

Barry has worked in the independent hearing care sector since 1977 as a practitioner, trainer and manager. He is a long-standing member of the British Society of Audiology (BSA) and until recently was a Trustee, Council member and Treasurer of the BSA.

He was a long serving Council member of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists and its President from 2012 to 2014. In addition to his role as an External Examiner, he has been a Partner in the Health and Care Professions Council since 2010.

Barry brings great experience of our hearing loss services, having served as a Trustee of Hearing Link before the charity merged with Hearing Dogs in 2017.

In his spare time Barry enjoys helping his two daughters with their gardens. He also enjoys DIY, reading and listening to music. His greatest pleasure is spending time with his family.
