Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Johns GCB KCVO CBE FRAeS

Having been President of the Charity from 2005 to July 2016, and now a Patron of the charity, Sir Richard takes an active involvement in promoting the work of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People at high-profile events.

Sir Richard is a retired senior Royal Air Force commander. He was a fighter pilot in the 1960s, a Squadron Commander during the 1970s and a Station Commander in the 1980s. He was the Director of Operations in the British Joint HQ for Gulf War 1 and later commanded Allied Forces North West Europe before his appointment as Chief of the Air Staff in 1997. After his retirement from the RAF, Sir Richard was appointed Constable and Governor of Windsor Castle.
