Togs for Dogs
Join in our fun-packed Togs for Dogs initiative and help to change the lives of many deaf people and unwanted puppies.
It's about Education and Awareness
One of the most important aspects of Togs for Dogs is learning about deaf awareness and communication tactics.Three of our specially prepared Togs for Dogs information packs are designed to support National Curriculum Key Stages 1(nursery), 1-2 and 3-4.
A fourth pack caters for companies and other organisations who want to learn about hearing dogs and deafness - so grown ups can have fun and raise funds too!
If you would like to recieve a hard copy through the post of any of these packs, please call us on 01844 348133 or email us.

- touch and Tell Chinese Whispers
- experiments and projects to explain how hearing works
- designing next year's Togs for Dogs logo
Togs for Dogs Day - which takes place each year in early June - is a unique chance for schools, clubs, groups, companies and organisations to learn more about people with a hearing loss who depend on their four-legged friends, while donating £1 to wear non-uniform, to raise money for Hearing Dogs.
Did you know?.. It's Learn to Sign Week from 6 to 12 October 2008
More than 1300 schools, groups and companies registered to take part in the 2007 event and their efforts look likely to have raised several thousands of pounds to help train more hearing dogs.
Next year Hearing Dogs is hoping that even more people will take part so that many more lives can be transformed. Togs for Dogs day 2008 will be held on Friday 6 June
Don't worry if you can't take part in June. You can hold a Togs for Dogs Day whenever you like - just let us know that you would like to participate and we'll send you everything you need.

Winning non-uniform coat designs for Toby
Hearing Dogs are indebted to supporters Bettina Meller and Dorothy Saunders who gave their time and skills for free to create fabulous fabric replicas of the finalists' designs.
With an unprecedented number of entries of an immensely high standard in 2007, judges designer Christine Howes and 'Favour' Editor Gill Lacey found it incredibly hard to shortlist finalists.
Below is a selection of the finalists' designs.
The judges said: "This coat has striking colours which complement each other and blend well. The central flower surrounded by dogs is a good and original idea.
The coat would look great in patchwork!"
The judges said: “Beautiful stitching on this lovely colourful coat. The pocket is a great idea. Bright orange against blue is very effective and stands out wonderfully. Made interesting by the good use of fabric with lovely texture. Fully lined and finished with blanket stitch."

right: winning design in age group 12 and over by Zoe Busing (aged 12) of Knightsfield School, Hertfordshire.
The judges said: “A beautiful, bold and colourful coat that really stood out from the rest! This coat was well made and had a designer label - a true winner and a designer in the making?"
This year we also ran a limerick competition, based around our hearing dogs and how they help deaf people. We had many great entries and the winner was Eligh Reid (aged 11) from Aberdeenshire.
