Supporting us
There are all sorts of ways in which you could help us with our work and we would really appreciate your involvement.
Hearing Dogs receives no government funding and relies solely on the generosity of individuals and organisations in order to keep helping deaf people and unwanted dogs – and contributing your time can often be as valuable to us as a financial donation.
In this section you can find out how to become a volunteer; how to raise funds for us and how to make a donation to support our work. All these aspects are vital to our continuing success – so please help in whatever way you can. Below are a few examples of how your donation could help.
£5,000 supports the training of a hearing dog throughout its working life. In return you will receive a framed colour photograph and information about the dog you support.
£2,500 supports the part training of a hearing dog. You will receive a photograph and information about the dog you support.
£1,000 funds a kennel for a year, supporting accommodation and welfare of at least six dogs occupying that kennel during training and assessment. Kennel funding entitles you to have your name displayed in recognition of your support, and at the end of the year we will send you a list of all the dogs who occupied your kennel.
Other examples of how your donation helps:
£1,200 helps towards the cost of assessing, selecting and recruiting dogs from Southern Ireland rescue centres. To meet the increased demand for hearing dogs, our assessors need to travel further afield to find enough suitable candidates from rescue centres to train as hearing dogs
£200 helps toward veterinary care and neutering
£150 buys a puppy socialising kit: as well as a bowl, collar, lead and various toys, we provide each volunteer socialiser with a special den for the puppy to sleep in safely
£50 helps toward kennel enrichment for dogs in training: play castles, activity balls, smoked bones and other interactive toys help to entertain and relax the dogs in kennels when they are not working
£30 helps buy toys and play pens for the puppy crèche such as run-through tunnels and ramps which help our puppies play and socialise together
£15 buys a grooming kit
£13 buys a heat lamp for a convalescing dog
£10 helps pay for bedding for dogs in training
£5 pays for a bottle of shampoo for puppies and dogs in training
£1 pays for a toothbrush to ensure puppies and dogs in training have healthy teeth and beautiful breath!
