Rotarys support

Rotary International in Britain and Ireland (RIBI) chose Hearing Dogs as a preferred charity in its centenary year.

RIBI selected Hearing Dogs as their preferred UK charity during 2005-2006.  With over 1,838 Rotary Clubs in Great Britain and Ireland, the support Hearing Dogs has and continues to receive is tremendous. This has been achieved not only by Rotarians raising vital funds but also supporting events, becoming speakers and helping to spread the message about Hearing Dogs.

To date Rotary have raised over £500,000. This has helped us train more hearing dogs and significantly contributed to the building costs of our new kennel block which was opened in March 2007.

A message from Mike Webb RIBI President for 2005-6

"When we visited Hearing Dogs' training centre in Bucks we were really impressed by their work training dogs to alert deaf people to everyday sounds.

"We met hearing dog recipient Humphrey Brierley with his new hearing dog Isa (his previous dog Ted had retired after nine years' sterling service) and realised just how these amazing dogs can transform a deaf person's life.

"I believe that supporting Hearing Dogs is an opportunity for Rotarians to give some very tangible help to deaf people who are often forgotten members of our communities.

"There is a desperate need to train more hearing dogs; please help by contributing to the training of a hearing dog. I challenge you to look at the options, and choose to give freedom and a better life to someone by supporting Hearing Dogs."
