Recycling
Raise funds for Hearing Dogs and help the environment...
…by saving empty printer toners and cartridges, old mobile phones and used stamps.
Reclaim-it
We launched our recycling scheme with Reclaim-it in 2003 and since then you’ve helped us raise more than £45,000 – just by sending in your old printer cartridges and mobile phones!
To celebrate our 25th Anniversary we supported the training of a second dog called Indi and have given it the name ‘Jet’ as in inkjet. Indi, a gorgeous Poodle cross Cocker Spaniel lives with his recipient Jane in the West Midlands.
During 2005 through recycling we sponsored our first hearing dog Dax, a handsome chocolate Labrador who is now transforming the life of a deaf lady in Sheffield. Dax was given the name ‘Sim’ to mark his proud association with the Reclaim-it scheme.
In 2007 we launched a brand new service – MyCartridge. You can now buy your printer cartridges direct from Reclaim-it and send your old ones back. For each purchase Hearing Dogs will receive a donation from Reclaim-it. Now you can buy and recycle whilst helping to raise funds for Hearing Dogs! For more information click here.
Reclaim-it will provide free of charge individual recycling bags, desk top boxes complete with bags (ideal for reception desks) and larger ‘Office’ boxes (which hold multiple cartridges). Reclaim-it will also arrange to pick up your recycling office box free of charge.
• A mobile phone plus battery (sim card removed) can raise up to £31 for Hearing Dogs
• Most used printer cartridges (not Epson) can raise between 10p and £3
If you would like further details about our recycling scheme please contact; Yvette Smith either by telephone: 01844 348 100 or Email:info@hearingdogs.org.uk
Stamps
Just by tearing the stamps off letters, parcels and postcards you receive you can raise vital funds for Hearing Dogs.
Send your used stamps direct to our dealer marked Hearing Dogs for Deaf People at PO Box 6198, Leighton Buzzard, Beds, LU7 9GW.
The dealer doesn’t have the facilities to be able to acknowledge your gift – but rest assured every stamp you send plays a part in enabling us to help more deaf people and unwanted dogs.
- In 2004 you helped us raise £1,972 by recycling your stamps
- In 2006 you helped us part-train a hearing dog called Penny, a black Labrador
- We are now well on the way to sponsoring a third hearing dog through your stamp recycling!
Postcards
Our fundraisers in Scotland are raising funds from picture postcards as well as stamps. The card and stamp on it have to be left intact as the dealer has a special method of deleting address details and ensuring privacy. For further information, please contact our regional fundraiser in Scotland Margaret Arthur by email or on 0141 812 6542.
