A special thank you to one of our younger Hearing Dogs supporters

Last year Shay Robson participated in the Mini Great North Run and raised £182.96 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Shay is just five years old.

Shay Robson Mini Great North RunShay chose to raise money for the Charity after his mum – Joanne – took a deaf awareness module as part of her course at university. The course included some sign language and Joanne taught Shay how to say “My name is Shay” in sign language, which he really enjoyed.

When Shay was deciding who to raise money for he decided he wanted to help deaf people and, together with his mum, Shay decided to raise money for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Joanne said: “I asked him why he chose Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and he told me he thinks it’s a really good thing [charity].

“We were all so proud of him as he ran the 1.5km in 9 minutes 23 seconds, but we were even more proud that he did it for such a good cause. No doubt he will run it again next year!!”

Thanks to Shay for your outstanding support and to Joanne Robson for sharing this story with us.

If you would like to take part in the Great North Run we have a small number of Charity places still available. Click here for more information.
