Meet the staff: Janet Knight

Today sees the start of a new series on The Dog Blog where we'll be introducing you to some of the staff who work at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. We start with Janet Knight, our Trading Company Supervisor.

Janet Knight1. What’s your role at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People?
I buy all the merchandise, run the gift shop and help to fulfil the orders that we receive from our supporters to help fund the vital work we do. All of the profits from the sale of our products go towards helping us train more hearing dogs.

2. What motivated you to work here?
I've always wanted to make a difference and work for a charity.

3. Tell me one thing you love about working for the Charity
The people I meet who visit The Grange (our national headquarters). Be it supporters on the weekly tour, volunteers or the recipients who come to stay with us before going home with their dogs. And of course all the puppies and dogs that come into the shop as part of their training.

4. If you were going to buy a friend a Christmas gift from the online shop, what would you get them?
I would buy them one of our Hearing Dog Calendars which has some lovely photographs of dogs and puppies. It's a really useful gift which will be on the wall all year round.

5. Do you have any pets?
I have three pets at home. Del, our four-year-old working Cocker Spaniel, Thomas a cat which thinks it’s a dog and comes along on walks and our new family member Red, who we rehomed from the Charity earlier this year.

6. What do you like doing outside of work?
I love to shop, go to live music events, attend musicals and eat out with friends.

7. Thanks Janet, anything else you'd like to add?
Just to say that our online shop contains a great selection of Christmas gifts suitable for your friends, family and pets. If you would like to browse through all the products just click here >
