Hero Dogs – inspirational stories for 30 years

To coincide with our 30th year celebrations, Charity trustee and author Janet Menzies will launch her book Hero Dogs: Remarkable Stories of Courage and Devotion at Crufts next month.

Hero Dogs Book - Jan MenziesA large percentage of sales of the book – published by Quiller – will go directly to Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

The book is a touching tribute to man’s best friend and contains moving accounts of dogs who have shown tremendous courage and companionship to those in need.

Amongst the many stories featured – including stories on hearing dogs – is that of Echo, the search dog whose toughest emergency came when he was asked to help with the search for victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti.

There is also the story of Vinnie, the British Transport Police explosives search dog who was awarded the PDSA Gold Medal – the animal equivalent of the George Cross – for his work during the aftermath of the 7 July terrorist bomb attack.
