Breeding Scheme volunteers needed
The Dog Blog - Hearing Dogs for Deaf People are on the lookout for Breeding Scheme volunteers to care for female dogs during pregnancy and to care for them and their puppies after birth.
Brood Bitch Holders are volunteers who foster breeding 'mums' as pets in their home and help to bring litters of potential hearing dogs into the world. For much of the year, the dog will live as a normal family pet within the home but the Holder also takes care of them during pregnancy, birth and right up until their litter of puppies are brought into our Training Centre aged 8 weeks old.
This is a highly-rewarding role for volunteers, as they develop a close bond with their brood bitch which is strengthened when she whelps her litter of puppies. It requires a dedicated time commitment, but this is fully supported by our Breeding Department who monitor the progress of mother and puppies throughout the process. No experience is needed, just enthusiasm.
For further information about Brood Bitch Holders please visit the Breeding Scheme information page or contact the Breeding Department by phone on 01844 348 100 or email Alex Stafford-Clark at: alex.stafford-clark@hearingdogs.org.uk.
