Signature Annual Awards 2011

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People have been shortlisted for a major award highlighting the work of organisations making a significant contribution towards achieving a society in which deaf people have full access.

Signature Annual AwardsThe Charity will be one of the four organisations aiming to gain a Signature Award in the Organisational Achievement category after being shortlisted earlier this month.

The Signature Annual Awards have highlighted a number of key areas in which Hearing Dogs for Deaf People have built up a strong reputation. Areas include the Charity’s work alongside the Accessible Tourist Campaign in England and Scotland, as well as highlighting the needs of assistance dog recipients with the Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) when travelling on the rail network.

The nomination also highlighted the Charity’s work in engaging its supporters via social media – particularly Facebook and Twitter – and actively looking at ways to ensure that Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’s social media outlets become a medium of choice for supporters.

In addition, the nomination also showcased the provision of a hearing dog and how they are designed to improve the quality of life for a deaf person providing independence, confidence and security.

As well as the Organisational Achievement category, there are six other accolades set to be decided at the Signature Annual Awards. These include winners in the Community Spirit category and Teacher of the Year category.

Winners for all of the categories will be announced at a special awards ceremony on November 18 at Plaisterers’ Hall in Central London.
