New Head of Communications

New Head of Communications takes the lead at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People

Former Royal Air Force Red Arrows PR Manager, Nikki Wright, takes up the lead as Head of Communications at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, the charity that changes lives by training dogs to alert deaf people to household sounds and danger signals in the home, at work and in public buildings.

No stranger to the life-transforming work of Assistance Dogs, Nikki was previously Media Manager followed by Interim Head of PR at The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, working on projects including the Blue Peter Puppy Walking project, BBC Breakfast Guide Dog of the Year Awards and the worldwide Seven Magnificent Marathons Challenge.

She brings over ten years’ experience in managing global, national and regional marketing communications campaigns for not-for-profit and charitable organisations, as well as commercial companies including Porsche and Saab Cars Great Britain.

Nikki heads up the newly formed and expanding Marketing Communications Team at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People with the brief of making the national charity a household name in five years.

Hearing dogs alert deaf people to specific sounds, offering greater independence, confidence and security. Over the past three decades the charity has trained over 1,600 hearing dogs which have made a huge difference to the lives of their deaf recipients.

Says Nikki: “It is so rewarding to be heading up such an enthusiastic and motivated communications team for a charity which profoundly transforms the lives of so many people. It’s an exciting time for us all as we strive forward in our aim to make Hearing Dogs for Deaf People a household name in five years. It’s a big challenge, but one we are already relishing!”
