Previous Hearing Dogs Partnership of the Month

Over a dozen deaf children across the UK have so far benefited from having a hearing dog placed with them – a programme which Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is now extending to deaf children countrywide.

With Mother’s Day approaching and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People celebrating 30 years of excellence, it seems only right to focus on a mother whose life has been filled with greater levels of independence, confidence and companionship following the introduction of a hearing dog.

As well as providing our recipients with renewed independence, confidence and companionship, hearing dogs are hugely adaptable too.

Out of all of the wonderful traits a hearing dog brings to a deaf person, their ultimate companionship is one of the main factors that is most valued by recipients.

Last Christmas will always be remembered as a special time for Sue Churchyard and her family – it will forever be etched in their memories as the first Christmas Sue had hearing dog Jasmine alongside her.

After winning the Royal Canin Life-changing Hearing Dog of the Year, Foggy with his recipient Simon Moore from Norwich is the November 2011 Partnership of the Month.

For many of the 750 hearing dog recipients across the UK, the feeling of isolation is one of the main reasons behind getting in touch with the Charity.

As Hearing Dogs for Deaf People moves in to its 30th year in operation, the Charity continues to create independence, confidence and security to over 750 hearing dog recipients right across the UK.

Since launching almost 30 years ago, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People have developed over 1,600 partnerships that have radically changed the lives of deaf people across the UK.

July's Partnership of the Month features hearing dog Rory and Sophie Smith from Brightwell-cum-Sotwell in Oxfordshire who've been together since 2009.

Millicent Williams, (67) from Stanmore in Middlesex will be taking part in the adidas Women’s 5k Challenge on Sunday 11 September at Hyde Park, London.

Eileen Hosie (66), from Bolton in Lancashire first met her hearing dog, Sian, in 2008 when she visited the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People’s southern training centre in Buckinghamshire.

Olivia Nicholson's daughter Poppy has become inseperable from her new hearing dog Maddy - Hearing Dogs Partnership of the Month for April 2011.
