On Sunday 18 May 2008 May Brook and Carol Vearncombe, along with May's dog Scoobie set out on a ten mile walk organised by Southport Rotary Club along the banks of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal to raise funds for Hearing Dogs.
They were lucky with the weather as they walked the course between Heatons Bridge, Scarisbrick and Maghull, Merseyside, and sponsorship for the three (including Scoobie!) raised a total of £523.50 for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
