Fundraiser of the month

June 2008

In the spring edition of their company magazine, NISA profiled Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Thanks to a wonderful response to the fundraising campaign they have now raised more than enough money to sponsor a hearing dog throughout its entire working life. Mitchell came to Hearing Dogs from a humble background, his mother Saffron was a rescue dog who was chosen by Hearing Dogs from a rescue centre in Ireland where she had been abandoned.

Nisa employee Kelly-Jay Marshall chose to run the BUPA Great North Run in 2007 to raise money for Hearing Dogs. “I chose Hearing Dogs to help raise awareness among friends, family and colleagues initially”, she explains. “As a charity Hearing Dogs is just not as well known as other animal charities. After taking part in the run in September 2007 I was lucky enough to see how the dogs are trained and how much people benefit from all the hard work involved. I wanted to do more and raise more money.” It was then that Kelly-Jay nominated Hearing Dogs for Deaf People as a beneficiary for our Nisa-Todays fund.  “I was amazed at the amount of money Nisa-Todays have helped to generate for the charity. So much more than I ever imagined when I recommended them as a beneficiary!”

Hearing Dogs have places remaining for runners in the 2008 BUPA Great North Run if you would like to run for Hearing Dogs. For more information please visit our events pages
