Hearing dogs change the lives of their deaf owners by providing greater independence, confidence and security. In addition to receiving regular updates on your hearing dog's progress, and a certificate and photograph of your Hearing Dog Friend, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping your new friend move on from their old life as a rescue dog.
More importantly, you will be supporting them as they make a real difference to their deaf owner's life by alerting to important household sounds and danger signals.
Why becoming a Hearing Dog Friend is so important:
Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is the only charity in the UK that trains dogs to alert deaf people to important household sounds and danger signals.
Over half a million people in the UK experience severe or profound hearing loss and could potentially benefit from a hearing dog.
We do not receive any Government funding and so rely entirely upon the generosity of our supporters.
Here’s how your monthly donation could help:
- We would be able to select many more puppies from rescue centres.
- We could increase the number of dogs trained each year to meet the growing demand for hearing dogs.
- It would help pay for your friend's socialisation training to introduce them to all the different types of environments that they will encounter as a hearing dog.
It would contribute towards the cost of your friend's health checks, neutering and veterinary bills, as well as on-going support throughout their working life.
