How your donation helps

The practical value of a hearing dog partnership is obvious but the therapeutic value should not be underestimated. In addition to security hearing dogs bring their recipients increased confidence and independence as well as companionship.

“Eddie was placed with me in June 2006 and wow, what a change! He supports me not only for the important sounds but also emotionally and socially. Everybody knows us well at the park. Luc, my son, now plays out and does his own thing, happy in the knowledge that Eddie will look after me.Eddie is my friend and very clever. He is always learning new sounds. He now knows my new mobile and he tells me when the microwave dings, a sound which he learned himself, he even alerts me when it is time for coffee at college. Eddie has changed my life completely!”

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People receives no government funding and relies solely on the generosity of individuals and organisations to help with our work. We hope the innovative ways you can support our mission will appeal to you and enable us to change the lives of more deaf people like Nicola.

What do you get in return?

Apart from knowing that you are helping to transform the life of a severely or profoundly deaf person, we will provide you with a support package that has its own special thank you. The packages vary depending on the level of support you decide upon and range from receiving a personalised thank you certificate to being invited to one of our two training centres for a guided tour and soundwork demonstration, as well as receiving regular updates and photographs from some of our dogs and having your support acknowledge on our website, in our annual review and at the training centre of your choice.
